Express yourself: choosing your team’s soccer uniform

Soccer is the most popular team sport in the world, which means there are a lot of players that have gone out on the field in the past. It’s important for new teams to come up with a uniform that sets them apart from those nameless masses, and showcases their own individual style. The first thing most teams will want to decide on is color, as this will obviously be the first thing everybody notices when they go on the field. If you have a distinctive team name, like the Gators, you might want to go with a striking green. Or notit’s entirely up to the team as a whole. Remember that you’ll need two colors for the whole team–one for home and one for away gamesand a third for the goalie, to set him apart for the referees.Another thing to consider is the jersey’s material. Remember that good players will be slick with sweat. Cotton blends are easy-to-find but hold this water in. There are a number of materials designed to move moisture away from your skin, such as Nike’s Dri-FIT and adidas ClimaCool. Somewhere in between are low-moisture absorbency fabrics like nylon and polyester. They won’t keep you completely dry, but they won’t stick to your skin either. The jersey and shorts don’t have to be the same color or material, as long as they go well together and suit each player. If necessary, individuals can find the right color in a different material. The opportunity for personalization also comes into play with socks and shoes. These two units go hand-in-hand with each otheror is it foot-in-foot? Either way, your socks will need to work with your shoes to keep your feet limber and comfortable. The socks will also need to fit on the player well enough to hold a shin-guard. Match the shoes to the rest of the jersey for a stylish ensemble that will have your team looking like winners.
